2014 update: We no longer use badges since we updated to the new forum software: http://www.videogameinfo.net/forums/threads/forum-software-updated.4498/

Badges will be rewarded for different positions and repeated helpfulness ect.

    [IMG] - Moderator on Forums

[IMG] - Owner on chat (And has over 60 posts)

[IMG] - Permanent moderator on the chat (And has over 120 posts)

[IMG] - User that has this has contributed a lot to VGI

[IMG] - User has an active, popular social group. (At least 20 members)

[IMG] - Posted over 500 posts.

[IMG] - User has recruited many active users to VGI.

Some of the old badges have been replaced.

If you have a badge you can:

    Unlimited posting
Close and open your own threads
    Post events on the calendar.
    Larger avatars
    Edit your custom title.
See which members have viewed someone else's thread.
    More PM storage.
Can search through your own PMs.
    Access to more special services

I don't get why you need a badge to delete your own post >_<

A cooler perk would be apprieciated.

    Maybe like a "badge room"?

Only those with badges are allowed to see it.

I don't know if this forum works like that.

No offense but I noticed Numb has a "contributed to chat" badge... Can you give me examples to back this up?

VGI encompasses more than just the chat.

I've changed how the badge system work. You must have at least 120 posts to use the moderator on the chat badge. You also must have at least 60 posts to claim the "Owner on chat" badge. The tournament badge has been replaced with the recruitment badge (Since there weren't enough organized tournaments). The mystery badge has been replaced with the "thoughtful poster" badge.

All users who previously had a badge but did not meet the requirements will retain their badge.

I'm looking to replace "Funke favorite" with something. If anyone has good ideas on what I could replace it with, let me know.

I suppose so, but so did I. I'm looking for more comments from the users before implementing the new badges.

Maybe to "phsycical favorite", not really original at all or even what you're after. but a possibility.

And wouldnt "at least one sticky" restrict that badge to moderators and admins only?

    Nah, it's too arbitrary.

No, only moderators can administrators are able to sticky threads. The idea is that if a user posted something informative enough another moderator would sticky it for him. The sticky thing is also up for debate, I just don't want it to be the type of thing that just anyone can get.

The old badges (Like Funke favorite, tournament winner, Mystery badge) are kind of moot at this point. I'm glad you finally decided to update them to give users more opportunities to earn badges.

New badge added. The group leader badge. You must run an active, popular social group in order to be eligible.

I like them, but they look too difficult to get so only the really active members would get them :raise:

At first I didn't really think the group badge thing was the best idea, but I thought about it, and it seems pretty good. :tard:
