Default The Call of Duty cycle

2007: Call of Duty 4 is released, some would say this was their hit that launched the series into the biggest selling game of all time. Everyone loved it and would continue to love it for 5 more years.

2008: Call of Duty World at War is released, basically Call of Duty 4 set in world war II instead of a modern setting. Fans complain "this isn't as good as Call of Duty 4" although it does entertain some people for a while.

2009: Modern Warfare 2 is released, a sequel to the hit Call of Duty 4. They tried to improve Call of Duty 4 by adding more to the game, things that weren't needed like overpowered guns and killstreaks. Sometimes less is more, fans complain "this isn't as good as Call of Duty 4"

2010: Black Ops is released, more features than previous Call of Duty games, more balance, everything the fans asked for. Fans are still not happy, no quickscoping etc. Black Ops is a great game but still they say "this isn't as good as Call of Duty 4"

2011: Modern Warfare 3 is released, basically Modern Warfare 2 but more balanced. Reused textures, maps suck, lots of campers. They claim to have tried to make this play like Call of Duty 4 but the fans still complain "this isn't as good as Call of Duty 4"

Moral of the story: No game will be like Call of Duty 4 ever again so you can either take off the nostalgia glasses or stop buying the damn game every year and lower your damn expectations.

Sincerely, a Call of Duty player who is sick of hearing people complain.

I don't know what all the stigma against "campers" is about. In real wars people don't just go running out into the open. They wait, sometimes for hours or days.

That being said, I've played Call of Duty 1, 2, 3.
Modern Warfare 2, World at War, and Black Ops, but not Call of Duty 4 (original Modern Warfare).

Looks like I picked the wrong game to miss out on. I was happy with Modern Warfare 2. The extra missions really added a lot of replay value.

Black Ops was fine too. Though I still sort of missed those extras in Modern Warfare 2. Zombies was fine but didn't make up for it in my opinion.

Camping is generally frowned upon in FPS games, it takes the fun out of it when you get gunned down by someone hiding in a bush when you know you would beat the person if they weren't camping. It's a cheap tactic for bad players.

It's especially bad in Call of Duty because killstreak rewards give them an incentive to camp so they can get more kills. Campers usually have nothing to contribute to the team unless it's a kill based game mode, sure they might get a lot of kills but they're not playing to win.

There's also "good" and "bad" campers, don't get me wrong I don't consider any camper good but you can tell when someone does it because they're bad at the game or when they just want to have a high kill death ratio.

Hope that clears it up for you.

In other words people are just eating up the same crap every year, and the hype train keeps on rollin'.
