Ten years ago a semi-popular development team, Bungie, release Halo: Combat Evolved. This marked one of Bungie’s all time best selling games. Halo, now under the care of 343 industries, is one of the Xbox 360′s best selling franchises. This year 343 industries release an HD remake of the cult classic; Halo: Anniversary.

The campaign itself is exactly how I remember it. With the exception of the graphics utilizing a more modern graphics engine, the “Reach” engine, this remake calls for loads of nostalgia. The ability to switch between the classic and modern graphics in a press of a button heavily influenced my decision to buy the game. However, I was very disappointed in the amount of time required to switch between the engines. By the time the new graphics appears, I’ve long forgotten what I was trying to compare.

The multiplayer, which includes a remake of the Halo 2 map “Headlong” (now called Breakneck), is practically Halo: Reach’s multiplayer with some classic game modes. Nothing special here. For a $40 retail price, which is bound to drop soon, I’d recommend picking this title up. The maps included with the multiplayer are also available as a map pack for Halo: Reach.

Resident Evil 4 and 5 both sold decently well, considering it was what many Resident Evil core fans have referred to as “not a Resident Evil game.” Since the release and criticism of Resident Evil 5, many have wondered how Capcom planned to “reboot” the series with their next core Resident Evil game.

Milla Jovovich, star of the Resident Evil films, tweeted this today:
“So I just asked the boys from capcom when RE6 the game comes out and they said… “hahahahahaha! It’s confidential”. So there u go folks!”

Though this isn’t solid proof, this gives a little tease at the next Resident Evil game, presumably Resident Evil 6. Until we know more about this, we can look forward to the already announced Residnet Evil: Operation Raccoon City, due to release next fall.

Well, it’s official. Ubisoft Montreal have confirmed they’ve received information and specifications of a new Microsoft gaming console. The company also stated that official devkits are due to hit companies in december, of this year. According to Ubisoft, “all signs point to” a 2012 release of the “Xbox 3″ if you will.

It is also rumored some Sony based companies are stopping PlayStation 3 development. The first console to release back when the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 released became a major deal.

On a side note, Grand Theft Auto V’s teaser trailer featured now information on what console it was launch on. RockStar Games has confirmed this will be the biggest and most unique open world game to date. The trailer certainly looks like a top notch Xbox 360 title. Could this be a “Xbox 3″ title? Ubisoft, is also known to be working on various titles, such as Splinter Cell 6.

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of not only Xbox, but also the critically acclaimed game that joined the consoles release, Halo: Combat Evolved. 434 Industries has been working hard to release the games HD remake, Halo: Anniversary.

The series has aged well and though some may argue Anniversary is only an updated Combat Evolved, which is really is, it’s worth the $40.00 retail price. If you’re not willing to deck out that much, the price is bound to drop at some point.

The game itself is smooth. There is a feature that allows you to jump between the original and HD graphics, which is executed flawlessly. In addition, you can now play the campaign cooperatively via Xbox LIVE. Halo: Anniversary comes complete with new maps (as well as originals) to play both classic and Reach multiplayer on.

If you’re still not convinced enough to pay $40.00 for the remake, you can always buy the map pack made for Halo: Reach, which features the multiplayer maps from Halo: Anniversary’s multiplayer. I recommend getting the game, though your wallets may be a bit empty due to other major titles that have recently been released: Modern Warfare 3, Assassins Creed: Revelations, and of course Skyrim.

On the Xbox launch day (November 15, 2001) Halo: Combat Evolved was also released. To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Xbox, Halo: Anniversary was also released today. For those of you who haven’t heard; Halo: Anniversary is essentially Halo: Combat Evolved with online play, including an HD remastering of the original campaign. The multiplayer uses aspects of the original Halo and the Reach engine, used in Halo: Reach.

Happy Birthday Xbox LIVE and here is looking forward to the next decade and exciting innovations you bring to the gaming community. Let’s start with that new, very sleek looking dashboard coming later this month.

Since the release of the Grand Theft Auto V teaser, many rumors have showed up. The most recent, however, is very plausible. An actor, who hasn’t exactly had his big break, named Ned Luke is supposedly the anonymous voice of the narrator for the Grand Theft Auto V trailer.

The resemblance of Luke and the man shown in the trailer, suspected of being the narrator, is uncanny. The voices are also very similar. Actor Jimmy Taenaka reported via twitter, “My fellow thespian Ned Luke is the lead voice and profile in the upcoming game by Rockstar Grand Theft Auto 5! Way to go Ned! Wholly Molly!” Taenaka has stated that this is only speculation, but that he recognizes the voice.

The IMDb page states that Luke is voicing the role of Albert De Silva. Keep in mind IMDb is open for public editing, much like Wikipedia. Luke was said to have been following RockStarGames on twitter before removing his account. Thoughts on the matter?

World of Warcraft has taken the MMO genre over and held it in that position for the past several years. Introducing both new and classic RPG elements, World of Warcraft brings game goers together in a massive fantasy world. But will it be the top MMO for long?

Over the past couple of months the subscriptions for World of Warcraft has dropped 1.1 million subscribers, from 11.4 million to, the most recent number, 10.3 million subscribers. This may seem like a massive number for a video game, and it really is. However, a 1.1 million drop is roughly 10% of the community.

This month comes the sequel, which was released in the late PlayStation 1 era, Chrono Cross, which is also available for download.

Fans think this may mean the revived possibility of a sequel to Chrono Cross. Since the release of Chrono Cross, Square Enix (Square Soft at the time) has looked into a sequel. It was confirmed that the company trademarked the title Chrono Break (Chrono Brake), which will end in late 2012.

Many of the original developers who worked on previous Chrono projects are no longer with Square Enix, which is not a good sign for a sequel. With still over a year to use it, Chrono Break (Chrono Brake) is still a possibility. More on this story later, as it devleops.

One of the most anticipated games of the year, Modern Warfare 3, launched today. With the game came the launch of the social networking site for Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Elite. Sadly, many have been experiencing login issues.

It seems the worst is over, but previously many could not login. We have been reassured that this is due to the new flow of registrations. Speaking as a user that took part in the closed Beta earlier this year, Elite still feels very slow and clunky. This is probably still due to the new growth in population.

It is not settling too well with the gaming community, the elite service being nearly shut down on the first day of launch. This is especially discouraging to the millions who paid $50 for their first year of membership.
